A Community First Responder (CFR) Scheme currently operates in Ashington. We work in partnership with South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and are despatched to take care of the ill or injured in Ashington and surrounding areas pending arrival of an ambulance. This is a voluntary role and we are looking for further volunteers to join the scheme.
SECAmb have now instigated a training programme, allowing us to expand our scheme. Training consists of first aid, oxygen therapy and defibrillation. Is this something you may be interested in? The time you give to the scheme can be worked around your existing commitments and will be on a pre arranged rota basis. We are particularly looking for volunteers who can provide day time cover for the village. Previous first aid experience will be an advantage and once trained you will respond to calls with a partner.
Should you wish to become a CFR, please apply for an application form at http://www.southeastcoastresponders.org.uk/index_files/contactus.htm. You will be required to undergo an interview to ensure you are aware of the commitment expected of you and the responsibility which accompanies this role.
Should you require further information of this scheme, please telephone Elizabeth Greenfield on 07708 568785 between 18:30 and 20:00.
We are also looking for volunteers to fund raise for the scheme and to map roads advising the location of house names and numbers of streets in Ashington and surrounding areas (Washington, Thakeham, Wiston, Sullington, Storrington Dial Post). Please contact Elizabeth if you can help.
